They’ve got some great things cooking over here. Since 2016, the Spice Factory has been delivering quality, service and flexibility. From 50 to 160 guests, this wonderfully unique venue can adapt to the needs of your special event. To complement three stories of incredible spaces, the Spice Factory has teamed up with Chef Dez and The Fold for in-house catering that will blow your guests away. A sprout of rustic charm, a dash of warm elegance and a pinch of sophistication will combine to make your day incredible at the Spice Factory.

Recently one of Spice Factory’s managers Natasha, shared a story with me about a couple who wanted to have all their friends and family attend the party. As with most weddings, timing, space and budget started to become a factor. Finding a venue to accommodate both, a beautiful dinner for close friends and family, and a giant party with the rest of the gang is no easy feat. To make it all happen, Natasha worked together with the couple to create a plan that would make everyone happy. The bride and groom had an intimate collection of 75 friends and family attend the ceremony at their local church. Then, they were invited to come and enjoy a closed door, sit-down meal in the Cilantro Room.

In the meantime, extended family and friends were gathered upstairs in the larger Black Pepper Studio to enjoy cocktail hour. After dinner all rooms were opened at once and the party began!

Music and dancing on the 2nd floor, cocktails and conversation on the main floor, with fresh air and friends in the patio space. While it may not work exactly for everyone, it certainly displays the versatility of this charming venue and its helpful staff members.
*The patio is also licensed for alcohol, so folks don’t have to leave their drinks inside. ;D

The Spice Factory offers Red Seal Certified, in-house catering that works together with outside vendors. Yah, you read that correctly! Treat your guests to an unbelievable meal from The Fold’s own Chef Dez. Then, choose from their late-night menu or have a local food truck roll in and offer that after-hours goodness to satisfy everyone’s cravings after dancing the evening away. You could support local business with a farm-to-food truck like Jonny Blonde, or go for a delicious Japanese spread from Spring Sushi. It’s entirely up to you.

Famous for their Cocktail model, the Spice Factory can also host 80-130 people for a full sit-down dinner, depending on your date and room selection. As mentioned before, they will also work to create a custom plan that works for the needs of your wedding. This Multi-floor venue has you steeped in history, even while moving from floor to floor. Along with polished wood stairways, they keep things simple with the 2nd oldest elevator in the city. None of that flashy digital stuff here. Just a sturdy, reliable lift to help move anything at all, up and down the building.

The first time I entered the Spice Factory, as a wedding photographer, I fell in love! This unique urban landmark has been beautifully restored with late Victorian tin ceilings, warm hardwood floors, exposed brick, wonderfully bright windows and all the character you could want in a venue for your wedding day. But don’t let all that nostalgia fool you, this is a fully functional, modern venue with all the amenities you could want. 4 table options, 3 chair styles, 2 podiums and a beautiful birch arbor on site. You also have choice of any colour for linens and napkins, a full PA system including projectors and screen options, a stage and soundboard for live music, fully accessible washrooms and rather large modern kitchen and prep area in the basement. Whatever you may need, they’ve got you covered.

As with any popular vendor, you’ll want to book as early as possible. If the Spice Factory is sparking your interest, just head in for a tour of the building, you won’t regret it. Tours are available Mon-Fri and they will also work with you outside of business hours, so long as they aren’t already booked, and a manager is available to meet with you.

Some helpful tips for the early stages of your Wedding Planning.

  •  Write down a list to help articulate your wants and needs (for all vendors)

  • Create another list of questions you may have…about anything!

o   Coordinators have seen a lot and just might have the answers

  • Keep an open mind and be flexible with your planning

  • Listen to the expertise and experience of your wedding planner and/or site coordinator.

o   Work together to create something special

o   They are being thoughtful on your behalf

As wedding vendors, all we want is for you to have a seamless day, full of wonderful and exciting memories. To make this happen we must get an idea of the vision for your Wedding Day. While you may not know what that looks like yet, this is the time to explore your options.

During your first visit and the early planning stages, try to minimize your entourage. Come together with your lists and questions and figure out exactly what you want as a couple, without outside influence. Then once you have built the foundation of your wedding plans, it’s much easier to incorporate the thoughts and ideas that will inevitably come from your loved ones.

With 3 on-site managers and a friendly staff, the Spice Factory provides a warm and inviting place to get together for a celebration. The tight-knit crew will keep your guests happy, fed and lubricated. There is even a flare-bartender available for entertainment. By the end of the night, new friends will have been made, for sure!

If you are looking for a venue with character, versatility and food with personality, this is certainly the place for you. Choose between the Patio, the Cilantro Room, the Black Pepper Studio, the 3rd Floor Loft, the Sage Room Bridal Suite or any combination you may require in making your wedding dreams a reality. This historic building offers endless opportunity for creativity and personality.
